Notary Service

Public Notary Services are available. If you have a current Steger-South Chicago Heights Library card, this service is free.  If you do not have a current Steger-South Chicago Heights Library card, this service is $2.00.  Please call 755-5040 to check availability.

Fax Service

The library has faxing service available for $1.00 for the service, plus $1.00 per page.  You can also receive faxes for .10 per page.

Scanning Service

You can bring in your paperwork, photos or more and scan them to your email or flash drive.  There is no charge for the scanning service, however you will need computer access to complete this service.  If you have a SSCHPL card with no fines, the computers are free.  If you do not have a SSCHPL card, or you owe fines, you can purchase a guest pass for $2.00.

Circulation Services

Our circulation specialists can assist you in many ways at the front desk. There, you can check materials in and out, pay fines, request an item through Interlibrary Loan, send and receive faxes. You can also ask for basic computer and copier help, and sign-up for adult programs. Our circulation staff can also answer direct reference questions, help you to find books on our shelves, direct you to other items and services in the library, and take applications for and make library cards.

Youth and Teen Services

Our Youth Services Librarians can help our younger patrons to find books, answer reference questions related to the Easy/Juvenile/Young Adult collections, recommend books by age level, and offer basic computer help with the Youth Services computers. They provide quality programming throughout the year, including the ever popular Summer Reading Program for children.

Reference Assistance

Our Adult Services Coordinator can help with all your reference questions related to the Adult collection, help you to order items through Interlibrary Loan and OCLC. Our Reference Librarian also provides the adult programming throughout the year and the Summer Reading Program for adults.

The Library's Collection

The library offers over 35,000 books, magazines, books on tape/CD, DVDs, and videos.
